Framing

In garden photography the sky is often eliminated. Also, do not include too much of an uninteresting ground, gravel path or grass lawn. Make each inch of photo real-estate count. Do not waste garden photo space on boring pavement or blown out skies. Move, crop out or edit out the garbage can. Watch out for distracting hot spots and moth eaten edges of your frame.

Vary your angles by shooting from a low position or from on a ladder or platform. Try new angles and mix up horizontal and vertical formats for the same subject or scene.

Layers can add depth and interest.
