Print your pictures and share on social media

Posting images helps to give additional purpose to your work and can also be a way to connect with others who share your values or admire your work. Note that there are different image sizes and formats for different social media. Social media, time and life balance need to be tailored for each individual. Social media should serve you and enrich your life, not the other way around. If posting on social media is helpful and enjoyable to you, chose one or two social media outlets and make regular posting part of your work flow.

I use Flickr as a photo diary and put lots of photos there – in chronological order: https://www.flickr.com/photos/scarletblack/

I have included some social media image size references here. The information is sourced from the internet and I have included the links below.

  • Pinterest: vertical images work best, aim for 736 x 1104
  • Facebook: 1,200 x 630
  • Instagram photos are square, and are uploaded at 1080 x 1080. The optimal sizes are 1080 pixels wide by 566 pixels to 1350 pixels high. The maximum Instagram resolution is 1080 pixels wide. Un-square shapes were added for Instagram ads. You can post a landscape image in a 1.91 to 1 aspect ratio, which is exactly the same as a Facebook link preview image.
  • Tumblr: 500 x 250
  • Twitter uses a 2:1 ratio, such as 1025 x 512
  • For prints and paper publishing use the highest resolution possible. Fine Gardening GPOD: Full, non-reduced, high resolution images are best
