“Carry the Flag,” is one in a series of Impressionist Photographs taken at the Vancouver Chinese New Year parade in 2014 and 2015. These photographs capture the spirit, movement, color and energy of the event in a way that can be more “truthful,” than conventional photography. “Chinese Parade,” another photograph from this series is currently on display at the Visual Space Gallery, RED Show that runs March 8 -22, 2015.

“Cadets On Parade,” is on of a series of motion blur photographs of the Chinese New Year Parade, in Vancouver, 2014. This impressionist photograph combines soft linear elements with the striking white strong curves of the Cadet’s uniform sashes. There is enough detail for immediate recognition and the motion blur pushes the picture toward abstraction.
This series of abstract photos is based on botanical subjects. These abstract photographs give the viewer a hint of form and pattern. They are a starting point for the imagination. A crossover between these abstracts and my representational photographs, can be found in the consideration of beauty and a connection to the natural world. …
