Scarlet Black is a Surrey based artist photographer. Her photographic work centers on the natural world. The contemplation of beauty is important in many of her pictures. She is always striving to discover and show – what is beauty and why is it important?
The dynamic shapes, structures and patterns of the iris are isolated to produce images that have an abstracted quality. In these images, the structure and patterns loom larger than the usual view of the flower. We often dismiss the powerful and sensual qualities of a flower. I have tried to emphasize these qualities in this series of fine art photographs.
This is a series of minimalist, white background, floral pictures. The series is available in a limited edition of facemount style prints. The “frameless” framing is all about the subject. The photo “Hellebore Trio,” pictured above, can be seen at the Visual Space Gallery on Dunbar, Dec. 2014 – Feb. 2015.
